NAME: Dorey Matusicky

AGE: 32

OCCUPATION: Owner of Southern Comfort pet sitting, dog walking and pet taxi.

Tell us about what you’re wearing. “A blue high-low dress with a yellow scarf tied around my waist, my favorite hoop earrings with dangly spikes and blue suede booties with curved, spike-covered heels. I got them at It’s Fashion in Denham Springs.”

What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever gotten? “My aunt always told me to leave the house dressed like you’re going to see someone important because you never know who you’re going to run into. Now, when I’m running out the door at 7 in the morning to get the kids to school, I don’t always follow that advice.”

What’s your favorite trend right now? “I love that ’80s stuff is coming back. I grew up idolizing Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.”

Finish this sentence. I splurge on ... “Shoes!”

So, you’re more of a shoe kind of woman than handbag? “Definitely, I’ll pick shoes over handbags.”

How many pairs do you own? “Way less than before Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina I had a kid, so I don’t buy as many shoes as I once did but I still probably have too many. Maybe 30 pairs.”

So what do you skimp on? “Undergarments.”

Name a celebrity whose closet you’d like to raid. “Cyndi Lauper. Even though she’s gotten a little more conservative over the years, she still has great style.”

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without? “Mascara! I always wear mascara and I wear lots of it.”

What was your worst fashion mistake? “Shaving my head. When I did I discovered I had freckles on my head.”

Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet; what would it be? “Let me see … I have this long, wool pea coat that I really like. It’s very ’50s looking.”
