Letter: Playing is foundation of learning

I would like to comment on Sen.Conrad Appel’s legislation on “getting young children ready for for kindergarten”

There is a National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that has been setting such standards for over 50 years and we, as a society, should look to them and their standards before we begin creating our own standards.

The play activities of young children will be the foundations for all of their life-long learning.

And for all of the people who are interested to learn more about the learning of young children should stop and themselves learn what young children are really doing when they are playing. Playing is the foundation of all of life’s future learning.
