LAFAYETTE — A Breaux Bridge man was killed Monday morning when the motorcycle he was riding struck the rear of a truck on La. 31 north of Poche Bridge Road, State Police said.
Trooper Stephen Hammons said in a news release that Coby Champagne, 29, of St. Martinville, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck south on La. 31 when a piece of tin fell out of the truck.
As Champagne slowed the truck, Bobby Sutton Sr., 52, rammed his 1998 Honda motorcycle into the truck’s rear, the release stated.
Sutton, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Hammons said Sutton was wearing a helmet, but did not have a motorcycle endorsement.
The accident, which occurred before 9 a.m. Monday, remains under investigation.
