Police search for Elysian Fields killer

New Orleans police were searching Saturday for the person who shot and killed a man in the St. Anthony neighborhood.

The victim was found about 10:50 p.m. Friday inside a white vehicle in the 4500 block of Elysian Fields Avenue, on the south side of the street, a news release says.

The vehicle had struck a tree near the sidewalk.

The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. He died from a gunshot to the body.

‘Subway Robber’ arrested in Jefferson

Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 55-year-old man who allegedly confessed to robbing a Subway restaurant twice since February

Deputies booked Steven Sloan, 9324 Fifth St., River Ridge, into Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on two counts of first-degree armed robbery, sheriff’s spokesman Glen T. Boyd said in a news release.

Detectives identified Sloan as a possible suspect in the two robberies of the Subway at 1201 Jefferson Highway, once in February and once in May, and when they arrested him, he confessed to being the “Subway Robber,” Boyd said.

Attacker stabs man on Jennifer Street

New Orleans police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Friday night at 3906 Jennifer St.

Police say an unidentified man was stabbed multiple times, an email by New Orleans police sent Friday night says.

No other information was available.

Man shot in leg
on LaSalle Street

New Orleans police were called to investigate a nonfatal shooting early Saturday on LaSalle Street, a police spokesman said.

Police arrived at 1515 LaSalle sometime after 4 a.m. and found someone with a gunshot wound to the leg, Officer Garry Flot said in a news release.

No other information was available, Flot said.

Poster depicts man wanted in robbery

New Orleans police kept up a search Saturday for a man who walked into a Papa John’s on May 5 with a small firearm and robbed the store.

According to a New Orleans police wanted poster, a dark-skinned black man in his mid to late 40s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 230 to 240 pounds walked into the pizza store on 3580 Holiday Drive with a firearm and demanded money.

The manager gave him the money and the robber left, possibly on Holiday Drive toward the Garden Oaks area, according to the poster.

The robber is believed to have a large mole above his left nostril, two gold canine teeth, acne or freckles and a trimmed goatee, the poster says.

Fugitive 110-ers gang member surrenders

Joshua Pittman, of the 110’ers gang, surrendered to New Orleans police Saturday.

He was the final member of the gang that police were looking for, police spokeswoman Remi Braden said in an email.

Pittman was one of 15 members of the gang charged by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office on Thursday with committing 15 or possibly more murders since 2008.

They were also indicted on counts of armed robbery, sale of illegal drugs, witness intimidation and obstruction of justice.

Man shot on
Tilford Road

New Orleans police investigated an incident Saturday afternoon in which a man was shot and wounded in the neck on Tilford Road.

Police were called out to 8800 Tilford Road to investigate the nonfatal shooting, Officer Garry Flot said in a news release.

No other information was available.
