Man robbed while sleeping downtown

A man reported he was robbed Tuesday morning while sleeping in his car downtown.

The victim reported that he was asleep around 6:36 a.m. in the 100 block of Carondelet Street. An unknown man approached him, pulled out a gun and robbed him of his money before fleeing on foot, according to a police report.

Robbery reported on Esplanade

Police are looking for a man who committed an armed robbery Wednesday on Esplanade Avenue.

According to a police report, the incident was reported in the 600 block of Esplanade Avenue at 4:42 a.m. The victim said that he was approached by an unknown armed man who demanded he empty his pockets. When the victim complied, the robber fled on foot, according to the report.

Metairie man given 10 years in prison

A 35-year-old Metairie man was sentenced to a decade in federal prison after admitting to heroin trafficking and being a felon with a gun.

Tokumba Miller was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to 120 months in prison. In addition to the prison sentence, Miller also will face eight years of probation.

Miller pleaded guilty in January to making several heroin sales to confidential sources working with law enforcement. He also said he made deliveries of heroin to people. When investigators searched his Metairie apartment, they found drug paraphernalia, a machine press, ammunition and a .32-caliber gun.

Federal marshals hunt sex offender

Federal marshals are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who escaped their reach during a recently completed roundup of sex offenders.

Bryant Vincento Angeletta, 49, has been wanted since 2001 after he failed to register as a sex offender after being convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl while working as a minister. Angeletta has family in the New Orleans and Texas areas and has also been known to sell pralines.

Suspects sought
in Jefferson stabbing

An unidentified man was stabbed early Wednesday morning in Avondale, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for suspects.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the incident at 4:37 a.m. in the 600 block of Pat Drive. The victim’s injuries were deemed non-life threatening. No other details were released.

Troopers find drugs during traffic stop

A traffic stop in Covington on April 29 resulted in State Police seizing more than two kilograms of cocaine being taken to a home in Bogalusa.

State Police stopped the driver of a 2013 Toyota sedan who was driving erratically as she headed north on La. 21.

The driver, Veronique Allen, 41, of Houston but originally from Bogalusa, consented to a search of the car, Trooper 1st Class Nick Manale said in a news release.

Troopers found 2.4 kilograms of cocaine in a rear cargo compartment and during an investigation, troopers learned the drugs were headed to a house in Bogalusa where they found additional cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Manale said.
