New Orleans — Police arrested a 55-year-old man after they say he stabbed another man during a fight Monday afternoon.
Johnny Thomas was booked with aggravated battery in an incident that was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the 2200 block of Westbend Parkway in Algiers. According to a police report, Thomas was fighting with another man and then pulled out a weapon and cut him on the side. No other details were released.
New Orleans — Police are searching for suspects in a triple shooting Monday night that left one man seriously wounded and two others with moderate wounds.
According to a police report, the incident was reported shortly before 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of Frenchmen Street. Officer Garry Flot reported that an unidentified man received multiple gunshot wounds while an 18-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were wounded in the knee and arm respectively. No other details were released.
Slidell — A 29-year-old man was booked with second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirm after police say he beat his father Sunday evening.
Slidell police said Bradford Dearing beat his elderly father so badly that the man had to be taken to a Slidell hospital for treatment for severe facial injuries.
The victim was initially being treated in the intensive care unit, said Detective Daniel Seuzeneau, a police spokesman.
He said when police interviewed the victim he acknowledged that Dearing beat him, but he couldn’t remember exactly what happened.
When police confronted Dearing, he said he only hit his father once in self-defense, Seuzeneau said.
Harvey — A Harvey man spent Monday night in jail after, Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies say, he admitted that he shot a raccoon that was prowling around his Harvey home.
Patrick Belton, 32, was booked with illegal use of a firearm, use of a firearm and a controlled dangerous substance and aggravated cruelty to animals on Monday.
According to an arrest report, deputies responded to Belton’s neighborhood on Brown Avenue in Harvey after receiving a report of gunshots from an automated gunshot recognition system in the parish. When they arrived at the location, they interviewed Belton, who readily admitted to using a 9 mm handgun to kill a raccoon, the report states.
Belton said the raccoon had been prowling around his home for a week and shot the animal twice with his gun and threw its body in a drainage canal. Belton told deputies that the animal had “threatened” his family, the report stated.
Metairie — A Metairie man managed to escape from a patrol car and his handcuffs after being arrested on several outstanding attachments Monday.
David Bordelon, 32, was booked with simple and aggravated escape, resisting a police officer and simple assault in connection with the incident.
According to an arrest report, Bordelon was handcuffed in the back of a patrol car when he managed to roll down a window.
He jumped out of the car and escaped to a wooded area in the 6200 block of Airline Drive. The report states that during his escape, Bordelon managed to shed his handcuffs and later scuffled with deputies.
