Benefit aids victims of Mother’s Day shooting
Tipitina’s hosts a concert to raise money for the 19 Fund, aiding the 19 victims of the May 12 Mother’s Day second-line shooting. Brass bands, Mardi Gras Indians and other musicians and entertainers will perform. At Tipitina’s, 501 Napoleon Ave., 7 p.m. $40.
A little bit of golf
City Putt mini-golf course in City Park opens to the public, bringing New Orleans a new, more petite experience in golf. On Victory Drive, across the street from Storyland. Friday, 11 a.m.
Asian Heritage Festival
The Asian Pacific American Society partners with Audubon Zoo to present a festival celebrating the culture of Asia with traditional song and dance, arts and crafts and more from countries such as China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Taiwan and the Philippines. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission included with entrance to the zoo. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Audubon Zoo.
Get treasures appraised
Bring your small treasures to Discovery Days at the 2013 New Orleans Home + Design Show, where professional appraisers will provide an opinion of value. Larger items? Bring a picture.
