Storm Chasers 1, Zephyrs 0
Five Omaha pitchers — including former LSU standout Louis Coleman — combined to shut out the Zephyrs on three hits Thursday night at Zephyr Field.
Coleman (1-2) allowed one hit and struck out four in relief of starter Everett Teaford. It was the first win in this series for the Storm Chasers (15-11) against the Z’s (12-13).
David Lough drove in the game’s only run in the fifth inning with an opposite-field single to left field, scoring Anthony Seratelli from second base with one out.
The Zephyrs’ Paul Grandoubled in the sixth and eighth but was stranded both times.

The parent Miami Marlins picked up the contract of Zephyrs outfielder Matt Diaz, who was leading the team in hitting at .341 and 29 hits. Catcher Jake Jefferies rejoined the Z’s from Single-A Batavia.
Isotopes first baseman Scott Van Slyke ranks high in many offensive categories. He leads the PCL in home runs (eight) and total bases (72) and is second in batting average (.411), second in slugging percentage (.758), second in extra-base hits (16).
Isotopes starter Blake Johnson is from Baton Rouge, and reliever Josh Wall is from Walker.

In his previous start Tuesday, Johnson, who is 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, hit an inside-the-park homer, the first by a pitcher in the franchise’s history.
Wall, 6-6 and 215, played at Central Private High. He was optioned down from the parent Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday after giving up seven runs in two innings in a wild game at Colorado on Monday. He threw 62 pitches in those two innings in a game in which the Dodgers ended with a position player on the mound.
