The Baton Rouge Area Chamber has been named as one of nation’s top 10 economic development organizations by Site Selection magazine for the fourth year in a row.
BRAC joins economic development organizations from Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Houston as the only groups to receive the Site Selection honor four years in a row.
Adam Knapp, BRAC president and CEO, said in a press release it shows the Capital Region is “experiencing a uniquely strong period of economic development success.”
“Without the excellence of our parish partners and the state, this sustained level of strong performance would not be possible,” Knapp said in a statement.
Site Selection bases its rankings on four factors: new jobs, new jobs per 100,000 residents, new investment amount and new investment per 10,000 residents.
In 2012, BRAC worked on 13 local relocation or expansion projects. These new projects created 1,128 jobs, with an average annual salary of $69,237, and $3.5 billion in new capital investment. This was the organization’s biggest year for total capital investment.
Site Selection is a highly respected economic development magazine and read by consultants and executives who are considering expansions and relocations.
