Ascension roads reopen after culvert work completed

David Drive and Bishop Woods Road in Ascension Parish have reopened following the completion of bridge work, Parish President Tommy Martinez said Thursday.

A bridge on David Drive, west of Manchac Acres Road near La. 42, was replaced with three 7-by-10-foot box culverts, parish officials said.

Work that began in late February was scheduled for completion in July, but crews from East Ascension Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 finished installing the culverts last week, officials said.

Culvert repairs also were completed at a bridge crossing on Bishop Woods Road just north of the La. 621 intersection.

Repaving at both locations is scheduled for a later date, officials said.
