USA-MMA is bringing mixed martial arts back to the Baton Rouge River Center on Friday, May 3 to showcase the top local and regional fighters on an 11- bout fight card that features three title fights.

“It has been a while since we have featured fights in Baton Rouge,” Gil Guillory, president and owner of USA-MMA, said. “We wanted to get back on the map and promote local and regional talent. We have promoted 13 fighters in our events that have made it to the UFC. We have the best fighters, top to bottom.”

Along with an amateur title fight, there will be two professional title fights on the line. Professional fighters Aaron Phillips and Cody Williams will go toe-to-toe for the USA-MMA bantamweight championship. For the main event Kyle Bradley and Adam Schindler will battle it out for the USA-MMA lightweight championship with hometown fighter Bradley favored to win.

“Schindler is a well-rounded fighter and one of the best professional lightweights in the region,” Guillory said. “Bradley is known for his aggressive first rounds. If Schindler can get past the first round with Bradley, he has a chance.”

The co-main event, Thomas Webb vs. Calvin Miller, has many local MMA fans excited.

“This fight has more hype than any other fight we have seen in Baton Rouge in a long time,” Guillory said. “These are two respectful fighters who are ready to compete to see who is the best.”

Webb is currently undefeated with five wins on his professional record. He trains at LA Boxing of Baton Rouge with some of the top trainers in the region.

Webb said he is ready to take on his opponent this Friday in the most anticipated fight of the year.

“I feel that my strengths are his weaknesses,” Webb said. “I have been working on my strength and conditioning for this fight and preparing to stay technical in my game plan.”

The winner of this match will fight the USA-MMA lightweight champion winner of the Bradley vs. Schindler bout on a future USA-MMA event.

Webb had a couple of things to say about if he were to fight Bradley on a future card.

“Kyle was my first instructor in MMA,” Webb said. “To fight him is kind of a dream of mine, because I know if that happens, I have reached the same caliber of fighter that he is.”

Miller and Bradley are training partners at Gladiators Academy of Baton Rouge, so the possibility of them fighting may or may not be in the cards according to Miller.

“He’s my training partner, and I can’t see us fighting,” Miller said. “As far as Webb is concerned though, he challenged this fight with me. That is what is important to me now. My focus is on knocking him out.”

Miller has six wins and three losses on his professional record and is known for his fierce side kicks, while Webb has a history of using his wrestling and jiu jitsu technical skills as an advantage.

“I hurt people,” Miller said. “I broke Webb’s rib while training with him in the past. He knows I have a strong side kick. I hit harder and faster and Webb is an easy target.”

‘Stacked 3’ fights start at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3, at the Baton Rouge River Center. General admission tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at For table or cageside seating, contact 337-501-1819. For the full fight card, visit
