MUSIC AT TRINITY: The Navy Ceremonial Band New Orleans will perform a concert to honor Memorial Day at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave.
NEWCOMB ART GALLERY FAMILY DAY: Newcomb Art Gallery on the Tulane University campus welcomes families from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for Family Art Day. Visitors will be able to take part in story time, view the exhibition, complete activities in the family guide and make art projects.
Story time, featuring “Just Line Around” by Kinsy McVay, will begin at 10 a.m.
The show is two site-specific installations by internationally renowned artist Pat Steir. Tulane University art studio students assisted with the execution of the large-scale works “Endless Line” and “Self Portrait.” Steir’s work will be on view through June 16.
WOMEN’S CHORUS AUDITIONS: Crescent City Sound Women’s chorus holds auditions for new members at 7 p.m. Mondays in the music room, third floor, Delgado Community College, 615 City Park Ave. The chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. ART SHOW: The Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center, 4300 S. Broad St., is the site of “My Neighborhood is Changing,” a photo exhibit by children in the Lower 9th Ward chronicling the unique character and beauty of this neighborhood in transition. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
CRIME CAMERAS: The Broadmoor Improvement Association Crime Watch committee unveiled its crime camera project Monday.
BIA commissioner and committee chairman Jeff Gardner said residents should consider buying their own cameras to increase home security and peace of mind. Gardner’s committee has been collaborating with Project NOLA. The organizations hope to have 100 cameras installed in Broadmoor by year’s end.
The South Broad Business Coalition and Green Coast Enterprises have also been trying to get cameras in the neighborhood’s commercial corridor. District B Councilwoman LaToya Cantrell has pledged $5,000 in grant money for cameras in the Washington Avenue and Broad Street corridor.
