4-H clubs compete in talent, yell, song

Oak Grove Primary School’s 4-H Club was loud enough to win the yell contest Friday at the Ascension Parish Achievement Day at Dutchtown High School.

More than 450 students from 4-H clubs around the parish took part in talent, yell and song competitions.

Shawn Fox won the Cliff Williams Memorial Scholarship and Lindsey Fryoux was given the Louisiana 4-H Foundation Parish Scholarship and Scott Tractor Co. Scholarship.

In the yell contest, St. Amant 4-H won second place and Spanish Lake was third.

Galvez Primary 4-H won the song contest, with Lakeside Primary taking second and Dutchtown 4-H, third.

Most Improved Club award went to Pecan Grove, and Lake Elementary won the Most Outstanding Club honor.

The outstanding club members also were honored. Shawn Fox and Gabbi Trippi were named overall Members of the Year.
