Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.

QUIZ TAKER: Kelly Hutson Viator, 44, executive director of the ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “I’m all over the place when it comes to music, and for the most part love it all. I’m thrilled to have access to the music festivals as they come to Louisiana. Sirius XM The Coffee House, 80s on 8, WRKF Baton Rouge, ESPN Baton Rouge, Jazz Fest Online (WWOZ New Orleans) and Festival International (KATC).”

WHAT I’M READING: “Just got a new book by Jay Farrar at his Son Volt concert in NOLA, ‘Falling Cars and Junk Yard Dogs.’ Southern Living, Parents, Adoptive Families, Advancing Philanthropy.”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “Netflix dropped our subscription because we kept the movie too long … mostly Disney, ‘The Rise of the Guardians.’ We DVR shows such as ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Cougar Town.’ Late night ‘Nightline,’ ‘CSI.’”

WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “http://www.NOLA.com, http://www.theadvocate.com, Zulily.”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “I absolutely adore Nilla Wafers and peanut butter with milk.

I too love chocolate fudge (no nuts) with a glass of red wine, Malbec preferred.”

BONUS QUESTION:

May is ALS Awareness Month. What do people need to know about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease? What can people do to help?

“There is no known cure for ALS or an effective treatment. Although the numbers living with this disease at any one time are somewhat small by comparison, the rate of living and dying are breathtaking: Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed, every 90 minutes someone dies. I encourage folks to attend one of our events, get to know our families, and very often that personal encounter compels individuals to do more.”
