Mount Carmel students recognized at language contest

Mount Carmel Academy was named best overall school Tier 1 in the foreign language competition held recently at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Categories and winners were:

French prose: Level 1, Diana Vazquez, third place; Level 2, Sabrina Langlois, first place; Level 3, Alexia Tadros, first place; Level 4, Georgie Bourgeois, first place.

French poetry: Level 2, Maddie Eustis, third place; Level 3, Mary Ann Casadaban, second place.

French extemporaneous speaking: Level 2, Shelby Dwyer, first place; Level 4, Danielle Maurer, second place.

French play: first place, Georgie Bourgeois, Charlotte Tully, Emily Tagesen, Amanda Addison, Brooke Yuspeh, Kirsten Sahuque, Caroline Wiewiorowski, Aidaana Amanbekova, Kelsey Maguire, Ella Jacobs, Sara Cardenas, Danielle Maurer, Gretchen Neuenhaus, Mia Baker and Marissa Wehrer.

Spanish prose: Level 1, Sloan Livaccari, third place; Level 3, Maria Ciaccio, first place; Level 4, Sarah Laiche, third place.

Spanish poetry: Level 2, Erika Lassair, third place; Level 3, Catherine Pellerin, third place.

Spanish Extemporaneous Speaking: Level 2, Hannah Dheming, second place; Level 4, Jasmine Jones, second place.

Mexican cruise winner: Jasmine Jones.
