District turnaround plan to be discussed
LAFAYETTE —A presentation on “Innovations and Pathways in Public Education” will be given by Lafayette Parish Schools Superintendent Pat Cooper and Gary Asmus, management information systems director at the Picard Center, at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the N.P. Moss Preparatory campus, 801 Mudd Ave.
The presentation will focus on the school system’s turnaround plan known as “100% In, 100% Out” and the Picard Center’s work evaluating school programs. Asmus will also share data related to the Picard Center’s “Pathways to Louisiana’s Future,” a tool that shows children’s matriculation through the educational system and into the workforce.
The free event is open to the public and part of INNOV8, an eight-day festival that began Friday and highlights creativity and innovation.

‘Safe Cycling’ class offered Saturday
LAFAYETTE — In observance of Bike Month, Eagle Wheel School of Cycling and Lafayette Consolidated Government will offer a free “Safe Cycling” course from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Cypress Room at the Girard Park Recreation Center, 500 Girard Park Drive.
Geared toward new and returning cyclists, the course will offer information on the basics, including how to pick the right bicycle, sharing the road and route planning.
No bike is required.

Camp applications being accepted
LAFAYETTE — Camp Bon Coeur, or Camp “Good Heart,” a residential, summer camp for children with heart defects, is accepting camper applications for its 29th summer camp session July 26 to Aug. 4 at the Acadian Baptist Center in Eunice.
Campers have the opportunity to participate in canoeing, horseback riding, archery, sports, arts and crafts, swimming and Heart Class, where they will learn about their hearts and even dissect a cow’s heart.
The camp is open to children between the ages of 7 and 16.
