Authorities on Saturday recovered from the Mississippi River the body of a woman believed to have jumped from the Interstate 10 bridge, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman said.
Police received a call about somebody jumping from the bridge about 10 a.m., Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said. The woman’s car was found nearby, he said.
Authorities identified the woman late Saturday as Pamela Spruell, 59, of the 12000 block of East Glenhaven Drive.
A worker with a Baton Rouge barge towing company found the body about 35 to 45 minutes after police were called, McKneely said. The incident slowed traffic until police were able to move the woman’s car from the roadway, McKneely said.
