Ochsner Health System has announced it will move its women’s services departments from Jefferson Highway to a Women’s Pavilion at Ochsner Baptist hospital. The $40 million Women’s Pavilion is under construction and will open in the winter on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors of Ochsner Baptist on Napoleon Avenue, Ochsner officials said.
All women’s services departments at Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway, including OB/GYN clinics, labor and delivery, maternal fetal medicine and gynecologic robotic surgery, will move to the Women’s Pavilion at Ochsner Baptist.
New moms also will enjoy larger rooms and such amenities as massages, manicures and pedicures and 24-hour room service.
Ochsner’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit also will move to Ochsner Baptist. The 54-bed Level III Regional NICU that cares for infants across the Gulf South is run by an experienced team of board certified neonatologists. The new NICU will accommodate one-third more infants through its mixed-model design which includes private rooms, open bays and larger rooms for multiples.
In addition, a staff of certified nurse midwives will offer mothers the option of a natural, holistic birth in a homelike environment with comfortable beds and birthing tubs. The Perkin Alternative Birthing Center is made possible in part by a gift from The Perkin Fund.
