METAIRIE — The Jefferson Parish Library and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants have joined to host the Young Entrepreneur Expo from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.
The expo is a prelude to Lemonade Day Louisiana, a free, communitywide program to encourage children to open lemonade stands on May 4.
The expo is free. Registration is not required though large groups are encouraged to sign up in advance by contacting Ann Lupo at (504) 904-1125 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the expo at the library, children 7-14 years of age will visit several stations where they will learn about money transactions, shopping tips, germ prevention, and making tasty lemonade. Each session lasts 20 minutes. They occur at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
Stations will be staffed by local CPAs who will provide business basics such as starting and running a business; banking, saving and sharing; and advertising to get businesses noticed.
Young business owners are encouraged to use their profits to spend some on themselves, save a portion in a bank account, and share part of earnings with a charity of their choice.
A story time and craft project will be available for kids 6 and younger. They will occur in the Children’s Activity Area of the library.
For more information regarding the event, contact Chris Smith, Manager of Adult Programming for the library, at (504) 889-8143 or email@example.com.
