Woodlawn is the latest Baton Rouge area high school to move a track meet from Thursday to Friday because of rain predictions.
One school, St. Amant High, is still planning to host its Baton Rouge Physical Therapy Invitational on Thursday, weather permitting, of course.
Field events are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. with running events 4:30 p.m., SAHS coach Dwayne Thomassee said. The 13-team field includes the host Gators, Dutchtown, East Ascension, Donaldsonville, Hahnville, Jesuit, Live Oak, Lutcher, West Feliciana, Zachary and Parkview Baptist.
“We called and polled the other schools, and for the most part they weren’t interested in running Friday,” Thomassee said. The fact that most district meets are next Thursday, if not sooner, was a factor.
“Like everyone else, we’re going to wait and see how much rain we get. We’ll make a final decision around noon tomorrow (Thursday).”
Meanwhile, WHS coach Jim Lieux moved his school’s Panther Relays 4.
“You have a lot of teams out there looking to get in a meet now,” Lieux said. “Based on that, I felt like the best thing to do was push things back a day.”
Ten teams are scheduled to compete in the meet that will serve as a tuneup for district meets. Catholic had previously opted to push its Grizzly Relays from Thursday to Friday.
