SOFTBALL HONORS

SEC

Freshman of the week: Bianka Bell, LSU. Bell had at least one RBI in every game and had two multihit efforts, including her ninth home run of the season. Bell had a sacrifice fly and a two-out RBI single that helped key the Tigers to comeback wins over Florida State and Arkansas.

Sun Belt

Hitter of the week: Nerissa Myers, ULL. Myers, a senior shortstop from Petal, Miss, went 6-for-9 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Saturday, in her first plate appearance since February, she hit a solo homer against North Texas. She followed that with a double and a grand slam. Myers came back in Saturday’s second game to hit her third home run of the day.

Pitcher of the week: Jordan Wallace, ULL. Wallace, a sophomore from Weatherford, Texas, tossed 14 shutout innings, striking out 32 batters and allowing just nine base runners in two starts and one relief appearance. She went 2-0 in her starts and got a three-inning save in her relief effort.

Southland

Hitter of the week: Haley Parkerson, Nicholls State. Parkerson hit .524 with four RBIs in five games, including a conference series win over Southeastern Louisiana. The freshman from Senoia, Ga., hit safely in all five games, including a pair of three-hit performances. Against the Lady Lions, Parkerson went 7-for-12 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Pitcher of the week: Kylie Roos, Northwestern State. Roos helped Northwestern State move into second place in the conference standings by picking up two wins against Central Arkansas. In the opener, the senior from Celina, Texas, fired a nine-inning complete-game 1-0 shutout. In the series finale, Roos tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits to lead the Lady Demons to another 1-0 victory.
