Celebrity chef Curtis Stone is bringing his popular television cooking show to Tanger Outlet at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Stone’s visit is part of the outlet center’s Taste and Style Event, which will feature area food trucks, Stone’s cooking demonstration, music and entertainment.
Jambalaya lunch sale
It’s not too late to order a jambalaya lunch from the Rotary Club of East Ascension fundraiser.
The club is selling $5 plate lunches cooked by Alden Gautreau from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, 1125 W. La. 30.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to fund the club’s community service projects.

Recycling Road Show
Ascension Parish residents can recycle paper, aluminum and plastics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Saturday’s Recycling Road Show at the Wal-Mart store in Prairieville.

Assessor sets meetings
Ascension Parish Assessor M.J. “Mert” Smiley is hosting three community meetings this month to answer questions about property taxes.
Meetings will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Prairieville Middle School, April 16 at Donaldsonville City Hall and April 30 at Dutchtown High School.
Evening of Hope benefit
Volunteer Ascension has moved its annual fall Evening of Hope fundraiser to spring.
Evening of Hope will be held at 7 p.m. April 11 at Parc 73 in Prairieville.
The fundraiser will feature wines, hors d’oeuvres, dessert bar, jewelry sale, a jazz band and auctions.
Admission will be $40 per person, $70 per couple, and $200 for six seats.

The second annual Ascension Equestrian mini jambalaya cook-off is scheduled for April 20 at the equestrian center on Robert Wilson Road.
Deadline to enter is April 14. Cooks can compete in youth and women’s mini-pot divisions as well as the adult large-pot cook-off with five pounds of rice.
The cook-off is a fundraiser for the youth riders in the Ascension Equestrian Club. To register, call (225) 505-0452.
Senior health fair
The Ascension Council on Aging’s Senior Health Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon April 26 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym.
