PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

National baseball

MASON KATZ, LSU: First baseman, senior. Batted .611 (11-for-18) in the Tigers’ four wins with one double, one triple, three homers, 12 RBIs and five runs scored. He hit .571 (8-for-14) in LSU’s three-game sweep at Missouri with one triple, three homers, eight RBI and four runs. He was also named SEC player of the week.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

MELANIE GOFF, LOUISIANA TECH: Outfielder, senior. Batted .800 with four doubles in Tech’s four wins. Goff got a hit and drove in a run in all four games, reaching base safely in 12 of 13 plate appearances and hand an RBI on seven of her eight hits. Goff also registered four doubles on the week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

ANNA CROSS, LOUISIANA TECH: Freshman. Went 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA in 16 innings, including her first career shutout.
