NEW ORLEANS — Orleans Parish business owners can get help filing business property tax forms, now being accepted online, at sessions Thursday and Friday, Assessor Erroll Williams said. The LAT 5 personal business property self-reporting forms are due April 30.
“I’m excited to see how business owners respond to the opportunity to file online,” Williams said, “and I’m optimistic the transition will go smoothly.
“Hopefully, this will set a strong precedent as we consider expanding online submissions for additional forms and purposes.”
To make the transition easier for local business owners, the Assessor’s Office will host several question and answer sessions with Business Personal Property Supervisor Mickey Markey.
The sessions are free, and staff members will be on hand to help business owners complete and file the forms.
The LAT 5 is a declaration of a businesses’ merchandise and inventory and the cost and year of purchase of fixed assets, such as equipment and furnishings.
The form can be downloaded and filed online at http://www.nolaassessor.com. Free sessions will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lindy Boggs Conference Center, Lakeview, Room 256, 2045 Lakeshore Drive; and at 10 a.m. Friday at City Hall, Room 8E010, 1300 Perdido St. Reservations are recommended.
