Letter: Family of Jacob Lewis grateful

On behalf of all of our family and friends, especially my wife Pam, my daughter Hannah and my daughter-in-law Jennifer please allow us to use this forum to thank the many volunteers and friends who prayed with us and worked with us in our search for our beloved son, Jacob Lewis.

We appreciate Mayor Kip Holden and Baton Rouge Fire Chief Ed Smith for their dedication in helping us find Jacob. We also wish to thank the fire departments of Baton Rouge, Baker, Central, East Side, St. George, Zachary, Gonzales, Districts 4 and 5 and Pierre Part, the dive teams from the Baton Rouge Police Department and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Greater Baton Rouge Port, the sheriff’s offices of Iberville, Assumption, Lafourche and St. Martin and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The men and women of these agencies went above and beyond for us and Jacob, and we will be forever grateful to each and every one of you.

In addition, we know in our hearts there were thousands of you out there praying with us each and every day. Thank you.

It seemed there was an endless source of grace for us during this difficult time. Everyone who helped us reminded us in some way of Jacob. They generously gave of their time to help us find Jacob and they never quit. That was Jacobs’s way in life. He always wanted to help and if he set his mind to do something he would never quit.

We will never forget Jacob, and we will never forget the generosity and grace of so many from this community and its leaders. Thank you and God bless.
