LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette honored more than 500 undergraduate and graduate students Tuesday for their academic excellence during the 24th annual Black Student Achievement Awards Program.
Recognized as Outstanding Graduate Students were Paul Broussard, Myrlene Bruno, Tina Chargois, Melanie Guillory, Kionna LeMalle and Quentina Timoll.
Recognized as Outstanding Students for their respective colleges were Francois Charles, College of the Arts; Deosha Goudeau, B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration; April Lemelle, College of Education; Robyn Smith, College of Engineering; Karen Gary, College of General Studies; Janea Judge-Hemans and Megan Roberts, College of Liberal Arts; Laykin McReynolds, College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions; and Kristen Hamilton, Ray P. Authement College of Sciences.
The event is sponsored by the university’s Black Faculty and Student Association.
LAFAYETTE — The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Wind Ensemble will perform a variety of selections during a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in Angelle Hall.
The free concert features the premiere of “The Bright Wild Places Where Boom Bands are Playing,” by Danny Devillier; “Ecstatic Waters,” by Steven Bryant; “Fanfare” by Q.C. Hilliard; works by Knox, Sousa and Gould; “Kokopelli’s Dance” by Nathan Tanouye; and other performances.
