A town hall meeting that was to be held Monday by members of the Ascension Parish legislative delegation has been rescheduled for Monday.
Registration is under way for a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at Cabela’s, 2200 W. Cabela’s Parkway, Gonzales, hosted by state Reps. Ed Price, D-Gonzales; Johnny Berthelot, R-Gonzales; and Clay Schexnayder, R-Sorrento. The state representatives will talk about the upcoming session of the Louisiana Legislature, which starts next month.

Plans for the South Louisiana Fairgrounds area will be discussed Tuesday during a meeting at Donaldsonville City Hall, 609 Railroad Ave.
Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez said the parish’s Recreation and Culture Department will hold a master plan community meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to discuss future plans for recreation activities at the old South Louisiana Fairgrounds property in Donaldsonville, which the parish purchased last year.
Eric Poché , an engineer with SJB Group LLC, said the master plan process is being initiated to discuss utilizing the southern portion of the fairgrounds property currently not in use.
Discussion will include selection and location of recreational activities at that site, phasing and cost analysis, he said.

The Teen and Miss Pageant will be on May 4 at the Gonzales Civic Center. The children’s pageant will be May 5 at the Gonzales Civic Center. The pageants are open to Ascension Parish residents.

The Ascension Parish Library is holding “Sensory Storytime” Tuesday in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.
“We’ll sing songs, read two interactive stories, and engage in two sensory activities: cotton ball clouds and rainbow rice,” Shelly Miller, with the library, said. “The storytime will be structured so that children know what to expect, and the storytime presenters will be flexible to the needs of the children.”
Sensory Storytime will be held at 11 a.m. at the Galvez library branch.
The program is designed for children with autism and their families, but is open to everyone, she said.
