LIVINGSTON — Early voting begins Saturday on a proposition to renew a two-mill property tax for programs for the elderly in Livingston Parish.
The parishwide tax is administered through the Livingston Council on Aging and produces annual revenue of about $820,275, which is used for services, operations, capital improvements and equipment.
The tax would continue for 10 years from January 2014. The proposed renewal is on the April 6 ballot.
The cost for a person with a $150,000 house with a homestead exemption is $15 a month, Assessor Jeff Taylor said.
