Wallace strikes out 15; ULL nips S. Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. — Jordan Wallace struck out a season-high 15 batters Sunday as the Louisiana-Lafayette softball team beat South Alabama 2-1 at Jaguar Field.

ULL (19-11, 2-4 Sun Belt) scored two runs in the fourth inning. Shellie Corbello hit a double down the right-field line to score Sarah Draheim. Sara Corbello followed with a single to center field to bring in Landry.

Wallace (11-6) allowed one run on five hits and no walks in seven innings.

Kaitlyn Griffith hit a second-inning home run for South Alabama (23-5, 2-1).

The Cajuns play Mississippi State at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Starkville, Miss. That will lead into a nine-day break from games for the Cajuns before they host Florida International on March 29 and 30.
