Body found floating in Industrial Canal

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man floating in the Industrial Canal on Friday afternoon.

The discovery occurred about 1 p.m. in the 5400 block of Lakeshore Drive, police said.

Search continues
for slaying suspect

A 30-year-old man is being sought in connection with an eastern New Orleans homicide from earlier this month.

Police are searching for Eric “Black E” Harrison in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Johnson, 28, on March 11 in the 14000 block of Willowbrook Drive. Police initially called Eric Harrison a “person of interest” in the case and booked Jamal Miller, 30, with second-degree murder in the incident. However, on Thursday police said they believe Harrison was a shooter as well.

Man shot in Algiers late Thursday night

Police were called out to Algiers Point on Thursday night after a report that an unidentified man was shot.

Police say they found a man with a gunshot wound to the foot around 11:31 p.m. in the 1800 block of Opelousas Street. No other details were released.

Man shot in shoulder on Crowder Blvd.

A shooting in eastern New Orleans was reported around 10:11 p.m. Thursday, and police are looking for clues.

Police said the incident occurred on Crowder Boulevard, but they have not determined the location. A man was shot in the shoulder, but no other information was released on the incident.

Man shot twice
in Gentilly Terrace

Police reported that a man was shot twice near the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Jasmine Street on Thursday night.

The shooting was reported at about 8:32 p.m. by New Orleans police. The victim was shot twice in the back and taken to local hospital in critical condition. Police released no other information on the incident.

Man stabbed after dog attack dispute

Police arrested an elderly eastern New Orleans man after authorities say he stabbed a man for kicking his dog.

Lien Vo, 72, was booked with aggravated battery Thursday and remains in custody. According to court records, police were called out to the 14000 block of Chef Menteur Highway for a disturbance. When they arrived they found the 30-year-old victim walking down the street holding a knife.

Authorities discovered that the victim was visiting a neighbor in the area when a dog attacked him. He managed to kick the dog, but became involved in an argument with another man. That’s when he said that Vo retrieved a knife from his trailer and attacked him.

The victim was cut on the hand, and returned to his own trailer to get a knife when police arrived. Witnesses identified Vo as the aggressor in the incident, the report stated.

Man accused in attack on ex-girlfriend

Police arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday after they say he sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend and taunted her for not being able to call for help in English.

Jacobo Cordova was booked with sexual battery after authorities say he cornered his ex-girlfriend while she was in City Park in January, fondled her and tried to have sex with her. According to court records, during the encounter Cordova teased the woman that because she didn’t speak English she couldn’t call for help. He also told her he wanted to leave her a memory and tried to force her into a car, police say.

The report states that the victim previously received a “stay-away” order barring Cordova from having contact with her because of domestic violence, but it expired in July.
