One of three people shot Thursday night in the 2300 block of Georgia Street has died, Baton Rouge police said Friday.
Christopher Fountain, 29, 1704 South Blvd., was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday, police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said . The other two men — whose identities are not being released because the assailant or assailants are still at large — are in stable condition, he said.
Police believe Fountain and a 47-year-old man were involved in the shooting in the 2300 block of Georgia, but ran away, McKneely said. They were found in a car in the 900 block of East Washington, he said.
Fountain suffered multiple shots to the torso, McKneely said. The 47-year-old man had been shot in the lower portion of his body, he said.
The third man who was shot, an 18-year-old, was found shot in the lower part of his body in the immediate area of the 2300 block of Georgia, McKneely said.
The man was not in a vehicle when police found him, McKneely said.
Police initially said another car believed to be involved in the shooting was found at the intersection of Thomas Delpit Drive and Buchanan Street, but McKneely said police now do not think it was involved.
The multiple shootings occurred at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, and the three people were taken to hospitals after police found them wounded, police Lt. Don Kelly said Thursday night.
Police do not have a motive for the shootings and McKneely said he was unsure of the relationship between Fountain and the 47-year-old.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact police at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
