Four games in different parts of the state will display Louisiana’s top high school basketball players at different stages of their careers.
The Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star basketball games will feature some of the top senior players and begins 2 p.m. at Centenary’s Gold Dome in Shreveport. Action for the East and West girls squads is set for 2 p.m. The East-West boys game follows at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, Baton Rouge Community College is the site of the Louisiana Rising Stars Showcase at for 4 p.m.
A girls game tips off the action at 4 p.m. The boys game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Some of the state’s top underclassmen are among the competitors who will be divided into
separate teams for each matchup.
LHSCA ALL-STARS: Two St. Michael the Archangel players, Taylor Morrison and Journee Beard, are part of the LHSCA East girls squad, along with University’s Di’Mond Jackson and Walker’s Mi’ca Lowe.
East players with New Orleans area ties include St. Thomas Aquinas’ Amber Donnes, Salmen’s Macy DeGruy, McDonogh 35’s Kaitlyn Pratt and Metairie Park Country Day’s Victoria Waguespack.
The West squad is set to include St. Thomas More’s Paije Hall, Ville Platte’s Breonna O’Connor, West St. John’s Jaylyn Gordon and Vandebilt Catholic’s Shakira Harding and Alacia LeBlanc.
The East boys squad is set to include Family Christian’s J.J. Holmes, St. Amant’s Donald LeBlanc, Christian Life’s Khalid Smith, Glen Oaks’ Chris Thomas, East Ascension’s Javaughn Williams and Scotlandville’s Damian Jones and Tre’Lun Banks.
New Orleans players on the East team are Brother Martin’s Jalen Gray and Newman’s Duke Douglas.
Brusly High’s Dimario Jackson and White Castle’s DeAndre Bellock are part of the West squad along with Vandebilt Catholic’s Lionheart Leslie, Central Catholic’s Dontrell Brown, New Iberia’s Dillon Mandeville and Comeaux’s Hayward Register and Julian Thomas.
LOUISIANA SHOWCASE: St. Augustine’s Craig Victor, considered to be Louisiana’s top recruit for 2014, tops the list of players involved. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Baton Rouge players set to compete in the boys game include: Christian Life’s Johnathan Stove and R.J. Hertzog, East Ascension’s Ja’Cardo Hawkins, St. Michael’s Jacob Evans, Parkview Baptist’s Will Jones, along with University’s Skylar Mays and Jalen Johnson.
Victor leads the list of New Orleans players and is joined by Brother Martin’s Jordan Cornish, Holy Cross’ Greg White-Pittman, Metairie Park Country Day’s Scott Plaisance and J.C. Younger, East Jefferson’s Curtis Anderson and Shaquille Preston, along with O.P. Walker’s Tyree Griffin.
Baton Rouge-based girls players include Episcopal’s Bria Johnson, Doyle’s Taylin Underwood, Northeast’s Pearl Jones and the University trio of Mikayla Bates, Terriel Ross and Alanie Fisher.
New Orleans-area girls players include the John Curtis’ Kolby Morgan and Tia Charles, Warren Easton’s Lawriel Wilson and Kechelle Figueroa, Helen Cox’s Wendion Bibbins and Troyian Brooks, along with Ursuline’s Jenna Deemer.
