LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish school system’s 16th Annual Superintendent’s Golf Tournament raised more than $45,000 for student scholarships, school officials said.
The tournament was held March 4 at the Farm d’Allie Golf Club in Carencro with a record turnout of 124 players, officials said in a news release.
Over the past 16 years, the tournament has funded more than $300,000 in college scholarships to Lafayette Parish high school seniors.
LAFAYETTE — The public is invited to learn more about the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s engineering program during Technology and Expo Day from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Madison and Rougeau Halls on campus.
“We want to showcase the engineering and technology professions and increase interest in and appreciation of the complex ways in which engineering and technology positively impact the world,” said Mark Zappi, dean of the College of Engineering, in a news release.
The college sponsors the event, which is part of Engineering and Technology Week held each spring for UL-Lafayette engineering students to showcase their research and compete against their peers.
Events open to the public Wednesday target high school students interested in math and science, and university representatives will be on hand to discuss the admissions process, enrollment and available scholarships. Expo Day activities and events include exhibits, tours and student competitions.
