LSU Theatre will present its annual Outworks Festival, an evening of six new, previously unproduced one-act plays with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer themes at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, April 30-May 5, in the LSU Music & Dramatic Arts Studio Theatre, Dalrymple Drive on campus.
There will be an additional performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5.
This festival, now in its eighth year, has grown steadily, and has now become a major opportunity for emerging playwrights to showcase their work. With more than 200 annual submissions, competition is tremendous for the productions selected for performance.
Six plays are chosen from hundreds of submissions around the country, and most of the works receive their world premiere at the festival. Outworks 2013 is directed, designed, performed and produced entirely by LSU students.
Productions in this year’s festival are as follows:
Outworks contains language and mature situations that are not appropriate for young viewers.
Tickets are $10 and are available only at the door.
