New Roads will host its Spring Street Festival and Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday along Main Street downtown.
The annual event will feature “tricked-out” cars, antique trucks and cars, motorcycles and a large display of Corvettes.
The event is free and open to the public.
Truck and motorcycle owners can still register to participate in the car show. Advance vehicle registrations are $25 and can be made by calling City Hall at (225) 638-5360.
Automobile owners can also register the day of the show for $30.
We Are the Difference Inc. is sponsoring a good old-fashioned Sock Hop from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Comogo Room in Plaquemine.
Only 75 tickets will be sold to the event at $10 each.
The Sock Hop will feature live music by the Wild Card Band and there will be a dance and costume contest.
The event will also include a cash bar and soda fountain featuring Coke floats, hot dogs and other 1950s goodies.
The Louisiana Woodcock Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will host its 21st annual Conservation and Sportsmen’s Banquet on Saturday at the West Baton Rouge Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
The event will kick off with a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.
Individual membership and dinner tickets are $55 each. Family membership packages are also available for $100, which includes two dinners. Additional family dinners are $30 each.
Banquet, Conservation, Sustaining and Gold sponsorship packages are also available at $275, $500, $1,000 and $2,500, respectively.
Proceeds from the event will be used to restore and protect woodcock habitats.

Girl Scouts Unit 144 in Port Allen will host its Spring Fling dance for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade and their fathers Friday, March 22, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park pavilion in Plaquemine.
Girls who are not members of the Girl Scouts are welcome to attend.
Advance tickets are $5 per person and $6 per person at the door.
Proceeds will support the Girl Scouts Louisiana East Council and its local programming.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their “Sunday best.” The event will feature music and food.

The 12th annual Fordoche Fair will take place March 21 through March 23 at Ryan Shoupe Park, on La. 77.
The three-day event will feature rides, a karaoke contest, live music, a jambalaya cook-off, bingo, and food.
The fair is free and open to the public.
