Initial claims for unemployment benefits decreased last week in Louisiana to 2,887 claims from the previous week’s 2,918 and from a year-ago tally of 3,302.
The state labor department said Friday that the four-week moving average, a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 2,765 from the previous week’s average of 2,825.
Continued jobless claims for the week ending March 2 decreased to 28,217 from the previous week’s 28,501 and from a year-ago figure of 37,773. The four-week average declined to 28,900 from the previous week’s 29,626.
