Traditional Louisiana Tex-Mex Chili
Serves about 8. Modified by Dwyer Brousard from a recipe on 3-ounce bottle of Mexene chili powder seasoning.
1½ lbs. ground beef
½ cup chili powder
2 large onions, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 tbs. garlic, minced
1½ tsps. cumin
2 tbls. flour
1 (12-oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (12-oz.) can stewed tomatoes
12 ozs. water
1 (16-oz.) can Blue Runner Creole cream-style red beans
1 (15.5-oz.) can Trappey’s red kidney beans
1. Brown beef on top of stove in a roaster pan.
2. Mix remaining ingredients and add to beef. Cook on low for 30 minutes.
