BR man arrestedin theft of iPhone
Baton Rouge police Wednesday arrested an 18-year-old Baton Rouge man accused of stealing an iPhone at gunpoint at 5 p.m. on Feb. 2.
Police booked Isaac B. “PeeWee” Carr, 5152 Banks St., into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of armed robbery, according to an affidavit warrant.
Carr and an unknown accomplice both pulled handguns on the victim while in a car with the victim and another person in the 2600 block of Plank Road, the warrant says.
Carr and the accomplice forced the other person to pull the car over, where the victim was forced to leave the car, the warrant says.
Police seek suspectin nonfatal shooting
Baton Rouge police are investigating the Wednesday night shooting of a man sitting in a car at an apartment complex parking lot on East Walker Court.
The victim was sitting with a second person in the car at 1662 E. Walker Court when someone walked by and shot the victim in the leg and lower body, police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said Thursday.
The other person in the car drove off and found a police officer nearby who called paramedics, McKneely said.
The victim was not seriously injured, McKneely said.
The shooting is still under investigation.
Firefighters cut wallto battle house fire
Baton Rouge firefighters had to cut through an outside wall of a house Thursday morning to extinguish a bedroom fire they say was caused by an overloaded extension cord.
When firefighters arrived at the house at 5819 Dutton Ave., at 8:57 a.m., they saw flames shooting out of a bedroom window, Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte said in a news release.
The fire was contained by 9:53 a.m. and the rest of the house had smoke and water damage, Monte said. No injuries were reported, he said.
Shenandoah break-in suspect arrested
A burglary suspect leaving a home in the 16000 block of Antietam Avenue in Shenandoah Estates on Wednesday hit another vehicle on South Harrell’s Ferry Road, drove into a ditch and broke his leg after hitting a tree, authorities said Thursday.
Charles Johnson, 27, 13805 Depend St., Gonzales, will be booked with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling; felony theft; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; two counts of hit-and-run; and aggravated flight from an officer, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks wrote in an email.
Other counts against Johnson are aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce; aggravated criminal damage to property; reckless operation of a vehicle; resisting an officer; no seat belt; and no driver’s license, Hicks wrote.
A deputy at Jones Creek Road and Coursey Boulevard saw Johnson’s silver Kia sport utility vehicleand attempted to stop him, Hicks wrote.
During the pursuit, Johnson crossed over the median and struck another car heading west on South Harrell’s Ferry, Hicks wrote. The driver of that vehicle was not seriously injured, she wrote.
Johnson then turned left on Lirocchi Road and traveled several hundred yards before hitting the tree, Hicks wrote.

Authorities arrested at least six people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.
