NEW ORLEANS — The South Central Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is celebrating its 81st Regional Conference in New Orleans Thursday through Sunday.
The public is invited to attend the conference Public Luncheon at noon on Friday at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel.
The theme is “Preserving Timeless Service with Jazz and Pizazz,” celebrating the culture and contributions of Louisiana and New Orleans.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is as an international service organization founded in 1908 by African-American college-educated women.
Luncheon honorees will include the state Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson; U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana Stephanie A. Finley; Dr. Norman C. Francis, president of Xavier University; Cynthia Butler-McIntyre, national president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.; and many others.
Mistress of ceremonies will be Sally-Ann Roberts, co-anchorwoman of WWL-TV Morning News.
