NEW ORLEANS —City Park’s Amusement Park opened March 2 for its spring season.
New this year, the Black and Gold train joined two other trains on the historic miniature rail to alleviate wait times on one of the Amusement Park’s favorite rides. Friends of City Park, a nonprofit that aids City Park through capital improvements, funded the purchase through two fundraising events: Martini Madness 2012 and Ghosts in the Oaks 2012.
The Amusement Park will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the summer season kicks off. Train rides are $3 or included in the $17 ride pass.
Friends of City Park’s next fundraising event will be held Friday. Lark in the Park Cabana Nights will support the newest addition to City Park: City Splash.
Funds raised will build a Cabana Plaza “Birthday Village” in City Splash, including furnished cabana tents for birthday parties or events.
Tickets to the Patron Party and Gala are available online at http://www.friendsofcity park.com/events.htm.
