Tips from confidential informants led police to a cache of drugs, cash and weapons at a Baker apartment, Police Chief Mike Knaps said Wednesday.

While conducting surveillance of the apartment Tuesday afternoon, officers arrested Travis Barton, 27, 2651 Manchester Drive, Apt. 3, when he left the residence with loud music playing in his vehicle, Knaps said.

Knaps said the music could be heard more than 150 feet away from the vehicle although its windows were rolled up, a violation of the city’s noise ordinance.

After obtaining a search warrant for the apartment, police found about 12 ounces of marijuana, hydrocodone pills, $14,186 in cash, a Glock semiautomatic pistol, an AR-15 rifle and a .22-caliber rifle, Knaps said.

Barton was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with two counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, three counts of possession of hydrocodone, three counts of illegal possession of firearms with drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, Knaps said.
