ST. FRANCISVILLE — West Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 13-year-old eighth-grader accused of calling in a bomb threat Tuesday to West Feliciana Middle School, Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said.
The student was on the campus when he allegedly made the call and sheriff’s deputies stopped his school bus later Tuesday to arrest him, Daniel said.
Deputies booked the boy with one count of terrorizing and he was sent to a juvenile detention center in St. James Parish to spend the night, the sheriff said.
The call was placed about 12:30 p.m. and school Superintendent Hollis Milton said the students were evacuated to the nearby high school football stadium while deputies and other law enforcement officers searched the two-story middle school building.
Daniel said State Police, Baton Rouge police and LSU police assisted in the search.
The students did not return to the campus but were dismissed from Bains Elementary, which also is near the middle school, Milton said.
