A free workshop series that begin this week has been developed for small-business owners, nonprofits and those who prepare and respond to natural and man-made hazards.
Seven workshops will be held in south Louisiana this month. The workshop was developed by LSU’s Stephenson Disaster Management Institute under a grant awarded by the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, with funds provided by FEMA. The workshops will be held:
March 5: Baton Rouge, Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, 3773 Harding Blvd., 8 a.m.–noon.
March 6: Gonzales, Lamar Dixon Expo Center, 9039 South St. Landry Road, 8 a.m.–noon.
March 7: Livingston, North Oaks Conference Room, 17199 Spring Ranch Road, 8 a.m.–noon.
March 12: Port Allen, Port Allen Conference Center, 749 North Jefferson Ave., 8 a.m.–noon.
March 19: DeRidder, Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Training Center, 412 Bolivar Bishop Drive, 8 a.m.–noon.
March 20: Opelousas, Chamber of Commerce, 109 West Vine St., 8 a.m.–noon.
March 21: New Iberia, Veterans Hall, 500 Marie St., 8 a.m.-noon.
Participants will receive training and printed materials that cover all aspects of hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
