The New Orleans Saints will hold auditions for the Saintsations, who this season will be composed of two separate dance teams, from April 14-16.

Both teams will make community appearances on behalf of the franchise and will be featured in the Saintsations “Making of the Calendar” TV special, the swimsuit calendar and poster — as well as on the team’s website.

Applicants may audition for one or both teams.

TD Club to honor five

Former Saints special teams star Steve Gleason will be among the honorees when the Touchdown Club of New Orleans holds its annual banquet Saturday at The Windsor Court Hotel.

Gleason, who is battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and his wife, Michel, will be recognized for their service to the community.

Former Indianapolis Colts General Manager Bill Polian will become the 23rd recipient of the Pete Rozelle Award for contributions to professional football and the NFL.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly and Holy Cross High School coach Barry Wilson will receive the collegiate and prep awards, while New Orleans sportscaster/sportswriter Ken Trahan will be honored with the Bob Roesler Media Award.

Tickets are available by calling The Touchdown Club at (504) 242-4545.

Saints a finalist

The Saints are a finalist for best sports team Twitter account in the Shorty Awards for the third straight year, the Real-Time Academy of Short-Form Arts and Sciences announced this week.

The six Shorty Award finalists announced Tuesday include the Saints, who won the award in 2011 and were a finalist last year. The Saints received the Shorty Vox Populi award in the sports team category for earning the most fan nominations among the six finalists. The other finalists are the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, New Jersey Devils, Sheffield Wednesday and Chennai Super Kings.

The Real-Time Academy will select the Shorty Award winners for each category on April 8 in the TimesCenter in New York.
