Romacelli has closed its Italian restaurant in Southdowns Village Shopping Center but has plans to reopen somewhere else in Baton Rouge.
District manager William Alexander said the space, best known for when it was home to the former Southdowns Lounge, “just wasn’t a good fit for our concept.” Romacelli had been open since summer 2012.
Alexander said ownership will likely not be able to start looking for another Baton Rouge location until the end of the year.
Romacelli has two locations in Lafayette and one nearby in Youngsville.
Donnie Jarreau Real Estate, which owns Southdowns Village, could not be reached for comment.
