The tall French style home at 8608 Glenfield Drive in the Woodridge Subdivision has wood floors, high ceilings and a beautiful saltwater pool courtyard out back. Spring’s not far off, and this home is ready to welcome it in style. Woodridge is located off Pecue Lane near Airline Highway just down from the new Woman’s Hospital.
The pool and courtyard come into view quickly after you step through tall double doors at the home’s entrance. A wall of windows across the back of the living room frames the pool and a unique combination of flagstone and cool decking that surround it. Water from a spa tumbles into the pool, creating a soothing sound for relaxing evenings under the covered porch. The pool area is completely fenced, with a safety fence across the rear porch.
Back inside, 12-foot ceilings are the order of the day in this four-bedroom, split floor plan home.
The large living room and dining room are at the center, the master suite and two bedrooms are on one side, and the guest wing and kitchen are on the other.
The dining room is immediately to the left of the foyer, and has a beautiful 12-light iron chandelier. The dining room window is unique; it’s tall with matching sidelights on either side.
The living room has a fireplace with a fluted mantle and marble tile surround. Built-in cabinetry is on both sides of the fireplace.
The kitchen is nice and warm, thanks to stained cypress cabinetry and ceramic tile floors and backsplashes. A big center island is topped with the same granite tiles that are on the counter tops. Appliances are stainless GE Profile, including a four-burner gas cook top, a dishwasher and a microwave-over-oven combo. The stainless refrigerator is Frigidaire, and a stainless double sink is below a window.
The nearby keeping room is a relaxing spot with lots of natural light filtering through four windows and the exit door to the rear porch.
A hallway behind the kitchen contains the guest bedroom and full bath, a laundry room with a sink and window, and the exit to the home’s two-car garage.
On the other side of the home, opposite the master suite, two more bedrooms share a Hollywood bath. It’s a very functional and flowing floor plan, great for entertaining.
The 15 x 14 master bedroom, meanwhile, has two windows and a tray ceiling. The master bath is a showplace from top to bottom, literally, with a vaulted ceiling and ceramic tile floors. There are two vanities – hers is bigger than his – and a long closet behind the vanity wall. Entry to the closet is through double doors between the vanities. On the other side of the bath is a 6-foot Jacuzzi below a window. There’s also an oversized walk-in shower at the end of the bath.
Finally, the outdoor space behind this home is terrific, with a saltwater pool surrounded by cool decking and flagstone.
A spa splashes into the irregular-shaped pool from the back side. The wide rear porch overlooking the pool is covered and served by a Bose speaker system.
