Bridge City — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the grandson of a Bridge City woman killed last week as a “person of interest” in her death.
Investigators are trying to locate Willis Stevenson, 23, of Bridge City, whose car was found abandoned in Bridge City shortly after Dorethea Richardson, 81, was shot at her home in the 300 block of Fifth Street. Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff’s spokesman, said that from the beginning of the investigation officials have suspected that other individuals were at the home when Richardson was shot, and may have been the target of the shooting.
Fortunato said Richardson and Stevenson both have extensive criminal histories. Richardson’s home was peppered with bullets, and her family has declined to discuss the incident.
New Orleans — Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday near Vespasian Boulevard and Westbend Parkway in Algiers.
The incident was reported by police shortly before 3 p.m. They said that an unidentified man was found with a gunshot wound to the hand.
New Orleans — Two local men were shot during a reported robbery Tuesday morning, but police still haven’t determined how one of the victims was wounded.
The incident was reported shortly before 2:15 a.m. Tuesday. A 34-year-old man told police he lost his phone and then received a call from a man asking to meet in the 4400 block of Cessna Court in New Orleans. The victim arrived with a 39-year-old man and a 21-year-old man. However, the exchange turned into a robbery where the victims had phones, cash and keys stolen, police said, and the robber also shot the 34-year-old man in the leg. The 21-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm, but police don’t know exactly how he was wounded.
New Orleans — Police are looking for three men who robbed and stabbed a 58-year-old man early Monday morning.
Police said the incident happened near the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue and Henriette Dellile Street around 12:45 a.m. The victim was in the area when the three men approached and told him to “give it up,” according to police. One of the men stabbed the victim three times in the stomach, removed his cash from his pockets and then fled in a small white car.
Harvey — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Harvey woman Monday after authorities said she stabbed her boyfriend after accusing him of being unfaithful.
Lisa Norris, 47, was booked with second-degree battery after authorities said she stabbed her live-in boyfriend in the abdomen because she suspected him of having sex with her daughter. Norris was arrested without incident on Wall Boulevard.
Harvey — A Harvey woman was booked with cruelty to juveniles after authorities sayidshe beat her nephew with a curtain rod because he didn’t clean their home.
Kayshawna Jemison, 27, was arrested Monday by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Jemison was picked up after authorities found her nephew with several bruises and other marks at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero.
The boy told investigators that Jemison came home intoxicated and beat him with a curtain rod because he’d failed to straighten up the house.
An arrest report said that Jemison was extremely apologetic when discussing the event with a deputy and admitted to the beating.
Metairie — A New Orleans man is accused of stealing nearly $800 worth of fuel from a train in Metairie on Sunday.
Ashanti Temple, 33, is accused of stealing 250 gallons of diesel fuel from a locomotive in the 200 block of L&A Road. Temple was arrested at the scene by railroad police who said he was loading the fuel into two containers in the bed of his pickup.
