PRAIRIEVILLE — A Gonzales driver was thrown from his pickup and killed Saturday night after it hit a roadside culvert in northern Ascension Parish, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Coroner’s Office pronounced Barry Nixon, 44, 41221 Dean St., Gonzales, dead at the scene, deputies said in a news release Sunday.
A passenger in the Nissan Frontier pickup had minor injuries, deputies said.
Nixon was driving southbound on Muddy Creek Road, which is north of La. 44, before the crash at 8 p.m. Saturday, deputies said.
More details are pending and the accident remains under investigation, deputies said.
