Denham Springs police continue to investigate a fatal accident that occurred on Interstate 12 eastbound near the Juban Road overpass just before 1 a.m. Monday, Cpl. Shawn Perkins said.
Melvin Beecham, 37, of Baton Rouge, was pronounced dead at the scene, Perkins said in a news release.
The crash involved three vehicles: a 1984 Cadillac Deville, a Ford van and a 2005 tractor-trailer pulling a box cargo trailer, Perkins said.
Beecham was driving the Cadillac Deville, he said.
Four occupants of the van reported minor injuries, Perkins said. The accident closed I-12 eastbound at the Denham Springs Range Avenue exit, but all lanes were reopened at 8:18 a.m., Perkins said.
