I felt compelled to share my concerns regarding the police incident that followed the Spanish Town Parade. I was two to three blocks from the site of the fight and witnessed many marked and unmarked police vehicles flying to the scene on Florida Boulevard — with bystanders in the middle of the streets.
It scared the daylights out of me to see so many in law enforcement risk the safety of others.
I do realize one of the victims was one of their own; however, with so many responders, most were unable to get close to the site of the incident. I feel those responding should have been more cautious with the number of drinking parade-goers still hanging out in the streets. A potential catastrophe was a realistic possibility.
